Man found hanging inside room in Otan Ile community

The lifeless body of one Tope Olajide, a resident of Otan Ile, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State was reportedly found hanging in his house.

According to sources in the agrarian community, Olajide’s body was found hanging in his room on Thursday.

The sources who do not want their names in print due to the sensitivity of the matter, said immediately the lifeless body of the deceased was discovered, security personnel were contacted and people were prevented from entering the room.

A resident of Otan Ile who spoke with a journalist, said, “Officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps were the first to arrive at the scene of the incident. They interacted with the people they met in the house regarding the incident.

“The body was still hanging when they arrived, but people were scared to enter the room where the body was because of fear. The NSCDC operatives who came interviewed the wife of the deceased. Police also sent operatives, and the body was later brought down. The deceased was an auto mechanic. The incident led to serious panic in the community.”

The Public Relations Officer of NSCDC, Osun Command, Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the incident.

Adeleke explained that, “On Thursday at around 9:27 am, information reached our office in Ilare Division that one Olajide Tope, popularly known as MECO, living in Otan-Ile, committed suicide.

“Information gathered from people living close to the deceased indicates that he had a misunderstanding with his wife on Wednesday night. People insinuated suicide; should that be taken to be true, what led to it is still hidden”.
