2027: PDP stakeholders strategise for Alao as Fadeyi’s replacement

By Tunde Olamilekan

Stakeholders in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are reportedly working to make a former Commissioner for Agriculture under the administration of former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola the Senatorial candidate of the party for Osun Central Senatorial District.

A Chieftain of the party who spoke under condition of anonymity, said Alao, who is the Federal Commissioner representing Osun State, in the Federal Public Complaints Commission, is favoured to replace incumbent Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, who recently decamped from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress.

The Inisa-born politician, who holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the University of Jos, according to the PDP chieftain, has the political experience and is well-rooted at the grassroots.

The PDP chieftain noted that stakeholders of the party in the Senatorial District were already contemplating dropping Senator Fadeyi, popularly called ‘Ajagunla’, before he left the party.

According to the PDP source, Senator Fadeyi has not justified the confidence reposed in him by the people of Osun Central, adding that the Ila-born politician has failed to live up to expectations.

“I can confirm to you that we are working on making Alao replace Ajagunla as the senator for Osun Central. Even if Ahagunla did not decamp, he is not likely to get the ticket again.

“He has not justified the efforts of the people who voted for him. Compared him to the other two Senators and you will see that the man has failed woefully.

“Alao is cool-headed and he is rooted at the grassroots. Someone like him will defeat a novice like Ajagunla and with the love Osun people have for our part, PDP, I am very sure that Ajagunla and the APC will not return to the red chamber”, the PDP chieftain stated.
