Oduduwa is first crowned king in the world – Ooni of Ife

The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Babatunde Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, has reaffirmed that the throne of Oduduwa remains the first royal stool in the entire world.

The monarch made this revelation during a special broadcast on Ilaji 91.9 FM on Saturday.Speaking on the historical significance of Ile-Ife, the Ooni emphasised that Oduduwa, the first Ooni of Ife, is the first crowned king in the world, describing the throne as the foundation of kingship and monarchy globally.

While on air, His Imperial Majesty praised the Okanlomo of Yorubaland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, for his visionary establishment of Ilaji Radio, describing it as a platform that will project Yoruba culture, values, and heritage to the world.

The monarch offered royal blessings and prayers for the continuous growth and global relevance of the station.When asked by the programme anchor, Dr Ogungbayi, about his affection for Ibadan, the Ooni noted that his bond with the city is deeply rooted in history.

He explained that Ibadan is part of his lineage, stressing that the first Ojaja was once a formidable warlord in Ibadan.

He further revealed that Lagelu, the founder of Ibadan, originated from Ile-Ife and was historically known as Agelu, thereby reinforcing the unbroken cultural and ancestral ties between the two great Yoruba cities.

The broadcast, which attracted a wide listenership, has been described as a milestone in cultural education and a testament to the role of Ilaji FM in amplifying Yoruba heritage.
