One of the governorship aspirants under the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, has awarded full scholarships to 20 best students of Abolarin College, Oke-Ila to study in any federal higher institution.
Ogunbiyi, who is the Chairman of Mutual Benefits Assurance PLC, made the disclosure during a visit to the palace of Orangun of Oke-Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin.
Ogunbiyi said education remained a solution to addressing societal challenges and reducing vices.
He added that the visit was part of his consultation tour to party chieftains and ward executives in Ifedayo area, where he also sought royal blessings for his 2026 governorship ambition in Osun State.
He said: “The scholarship will be funded through Arubiewe Educational Foundation, which has been running similar programmes for years.
“Only a few weeks earlier, I extended a similar gesture to the best graduating students of Lanreleke Sports Academy, Ileogbo.’’
Oba Abolarin, who is also the proprietor of Abolarin College, in his response, thanked Dr. Ogunbiyi for his philanthropic gesture, describing him as “a humble and silent philanthropist, who has positively impacted many lives.”
Earlier while addressing members of the party in Ila local government, Ogunbiyi said if given a chance, he will provide good governance to the people of Osun State.
“I am committed to making Osun a hub for industrialisation, creating opportunities for our youth and ensuring sustainable growth,” Dr. Ogunbiyi said.
