Osun police nab 13 suspects in renewed security efforts

Commissioner of Police, Osun State, Ibrahim Gotan, said the command has arrested 13 suspected hoodlums.

He charged the officers to step up action against the criminals saying, “We are going after them. I have charged officers to rise to the task and flush out the criminals. The command has imbued community policing. Officers should apply professionalism in carrying out their duties. I have encouraged officers on discipline, professionalism and integrity as core values every officer must uphold. Insubordination will not be tolerated under my leadership.

“Police arrested suspected armed robbers terrorising Ikirun-Osogbo axis and recovered AK47 rifles, magazines and pump action. Operatives raided hideouts of the hoodlums and arrested five suspects operating along the IIesa-Akure Expressway, Gbongan-Ife Expressway.

“Other members of the gang escaped with bullet wounds. I have visited all the flashpoints and deployed a tactical team to checkmate the hoodlums. Today, Osun State is safe. We appreciate the efforts of the public and stakeholders for giving us vital information, which enables the command and other sister agencies to smoke out hoodlums from the state.

“I have warned officers to shun corruption and illegal duty. They should cultivate good relationship with the public and respect the fundamental human rights of the citizens.”
