Osun 2026: US-based professor joins APC guber race

A Professor of Mathematics from the United States of America (USA), Rafiu Durodoye, has joined the gubernatorial race within the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2026 election.

Durodoye, who has over 37 years of experience in teaching, lectures at Dallas College, Texas, met executives of APC at the state secretariat, Ogo-Oluwa, to declare his intention.

Addressing party chieftains and members, Durodoye said: “At this point of my life, I have to contribute my quota to the development of Osun State, I want to donate my knowledge, experience and wealth to the development of our youth, our youth have no future, no mission, no goal, it is very sad.

“So I have to donate everything that I have not only to make Osun State great, but also a model state that others will learn from in education, health care delivery, science and technology, and empowerment, I can do it.”

The State Chairman of APC, Tajudeen Lawal, said: “All the aspirants that have shown interest are competent and have the abilities to govern Osun State. But your major aim should be how to wrestle power from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).”
