A former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has stressed the importance of renewable energy alternatives across various fields and industries as part of the ways to reduce the monthly energy bill.
Omisore, who spoke in Abuja at the Shehu Musa Yaradua Centre as the Distinguished Lecturer at the 15th Mechanical Engineering Lecture with the topic “Imperative Mechanical Engineering Strategies for Socio-Economic Development Based on National Budget, Challenges and Potentials”.
The lecture which had in attendance the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, Chief Bisi Akande, H.E Gboyega Oyetola, H.E Idris Wada, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, Dr Isiaq Salako, Senator Fatai Buhari, Saliu Mustapha, Senator Teslim Folarin, Omooba Dotun Babayemi among others, became a platform for policy makers and professionals to interface with the government on the many ills bedevelling our nation.
In his words, Omisore said, “The Nigerian budget is drafted for the upliftment of the people in the hope of exploiting available potentials towards solving all palpable and latent challenges of the citizenry.”
“The lower and the upper houses, as well as the executive have done what they probably knew best to do, but the budget without innovative implementation strategies would remain like the carcass of a vehicle, though with an engine of enormous capacity (potentials), but without the wheels – we are going nowhere!
