The member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives officially announced his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) during Thursday’s plenary.
Oke, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Foreign Affairs, in a letter dated April 16 and addressed to Ward 7 chairman of the party in Obokun local government, said the decision was taken after consulting with his constituents.
Oke’s defection was formally announced by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen at Thursday’s plenary, increasing the total number of lawmakers who have switched parties since the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly to 30.
Of the 30 defectors, 27 have joined the APC from the PDP, Labour Party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), and the NNPP.
