The immediate past Speaker of Osun State, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye has hailed the defection of Hon. Oluwole Oke, a member of the House of Representatives into the All Progressives Congress as a good omen for the party.
Owoeye, who spoke during a popular radio interview programme in Osogbo, Oro Oselu, said Oke’s defection to the APC has effectively sealed the fate of the ruling party in the upcoming gubernational election in Osun State.
Oke, a fifth-term lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State, recently said he decided to leave the PDP after consulting with his political associates, friends, and family members.
Giving credence to his defection, Hon. Owoeye said the entrance of Oke into the All Progressives Congress is a good headstart as the party prepares to wrestle power from the Ademola Adeleke-led government in Osun State.
“Oke’s political sagacity having won five out of six elections is unquantifiable. Nobody can doubt or question the influence of Wole Oke in Ijesa North politics. His defection in Ijesa North reinforces our commitment at Ijesa South to deliver the six LGAs of Ijesaland for the APC in next year’s gubernatorial election.”
