Ilesa agog as Owoeye empowers 799 residents

No fewer than 799 beneficiaries benefited from the Timothy Owoeye empowerment and end of the year programme that took place on Tuesday in Ilesa.

The event put together by the Timothy Owoeye Foundation is the second structured empowerment programme of Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, the Honourable Member representing Ilesa East State Constituency who also doubles as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly.

The Speaker said the empowerment programme was to appreciate the good people of Ijesaland for their support the past few years. He said “In 2018, when my world almost came crashing, I found comfort in you my people and this was evident in the 2019 House of Assembly election when you spoke loudly with your votes and also supported my bid to become Speaker of this great State. You repaid my generosity with a greater one and I made a pledge to myself that I’ll continue on this path of mine.”

Owoeye who at the moment is constructing a Maternity Centre at Olomilagbala, a public toilet at Sabo, a public toilet at College of Health Technology, an electrification project at Ilo Olomo, rehabilitation of aralopon maternity centre and construction of community hall in Kajola Imo, also announced a cash donation of two million naira to Oke Aanu community, two hundred and fifty thousand naira each to Acomoran and Barber’s union.

The crux of the programme came when he presented a N20,000 cash empowerment to 150 beneficiaries, sewing machine to 30 beneficiaries, grinding machines to 30 beneficiaries, deep freezer to 30 beneficiaries, motorcycle to 30 beneficiaries, motorcycle tyre to 200 beneficiaries, generator & barbing kit to 15 beneficiaries, hair dryer to 20 beneficiaries, rechargeable fans to 53 beneficiaries, standing fans to 123 beneficiaries, gas burner to 100  beneficiaries, microwave to 12 beneficiaries, wheelchairs to 3 beneficiaries, car wash machine to 3 beneficiaries.

Speaking at the event, the Governor of the State, Adegboyega Oyetola, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr. Benedict Alabi, described the multi-million empowerment initiative as aptly supportive of his administration’s commitment to making life better for Osun’s teeming citizens.

He said: “I would like to, on behalf of the Government and our people of Osun, specially thank Mr. Speaker for putting this empowerment programme together to give back to the people in the spirit of the season and in line with our Development Agenda.

“I must equally thank him for his exemplary personal and leadership qualities that have made it possible for our State to enjoy impressive legislative performance, and for both functional and peaceful relationship between the executive and the judiciary without compromising our responsibilities.

“Mr. Speaker, we are immensely proud of you and all the members of the House for the good work you are doing for our beloved state.
