A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Ajagunla Olubiyi Fadeyi, has called on groups fanning ember of discord and national disintegration to embrace peace and unity in the spirit of Sallah.
Fadeyi, in a Eid message personally signed by him urged Nigerians to cohabit with one another to foster the development of the nation.
He said “I felicitate with Nigerians and Muslim faithful as they join their counterparts across the world to celebrate Eid-al-Adha, a religious festival in commemoration of the sacrifice of a ram made by Prophet Ibrahim instead of his only son.”
“These are desperate times for us as a people considering the COVID-19 pandemic that has ravaged our lives and economy. We must celebrate Eid-al-Adha in a moderate manner to forestall the community transmission of the virus.”
“We must collectively pray to God to halt this pandemic plauging our race. We must also imbibe the sacrifice that this season stands for by beginning to think of how to take our lives back to normal after COVID-19.”
He insisted that Sallah is a time of sober reflection and it is pertinent for all of us to pause in our agitations and consider the consequences of going our separate ways. We can not afford that. We must learn to live with and tolerate one another, despite our religious and ethnic differences. This is where we derive our strength.
