Thirteen political parties have expressed their intention to contest the upcoming Local Government elections in Osun State, just as the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) extended the registration deadline for other political parties.
The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission said the extension was done in a bid to ensure transparency, accountability as well as give all political parties a sense of belonging.
The exercise which was initially slated to close by tomorrow Tuesday 23rd June has been extended till this Friday to allow for more political parties to participate.
In a statement released today by the Chairman of the Commission, Otunba Segun Oladitan, a total of 13 political parties have so far expressed interest in the exercise and they include; the Action Alliance, African Democratic Congress, Accord, Social Democratic Party, African Action Congress, New Nigeria Peoples Party and Allied Peoples Movement. Others include the Peoples Redemption Party, All Progressives Congress, All Progressives Grand Alliance, Peoples Democratic Party, Zenith Labour Party and Action Democratic Party.
The statement however urged all political parties that are yet to act accordingly to do so before the new window closes.
