BREAKING: Osun Assembly passes Osun College of Health Technology Ilesha bill

The Osun State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, has today passed the establishment bill for Osun College of Health Technology Ilesha.

The bill which was first read on the floor of the house on 15th October, 2019, also passed second reading on 22nd October, 2019.

The bill which gives the institution a new nomenclature, Osun College of Health Technology, is a big upgrade from the former name, Osun School of Health Technology.

In his remarks, the Speaker explained that the bill will grant the students of the school the opportunity to partake in the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

The bill also gives autonomy to the institution and creates opportunity for endowment, interventions and funding from the Federal Government.

The school whose objective is to educate and train primary health care workers for primary, secondary and tertiary health institutions was established in 1977 through a military decree.

The passed establishment bill is sponsored by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, it will now be transmitted to the Executive Governor, H.E Gboyega Oyetola for assent.
