GTB sets up intensive care centre for COVID-19

Guaranty Trust Bank says it has set up a 100-bed intensive care facility in Onikan, Lagos.

Segun Agbaje, the bank’s chief executive officer, said the facility would be equipped with personnel and other equipment needed to care for Covid-19 patients.

“At GTBank, our people are our most valuable asset, and your health and safety is our utmost concern,” Agbaje said in a release by the bank.

“That is why we are constantly monitoring the Coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak and taking all the necessary precautions to make sure that our workplaces remain safe for everyone.

“Our customers and stakeholders are also counting on us during this difficult time, and it is our duty to be there for them, as they navigate the uncertainties caused by this outbreak.”

He said the bank is committed to ensure that the centre is “fully set up by the end of this week”.

Agbaje also advised members of the public to “assume a greater sense of responsibility” for not only themselves but for other people.

“At work, it is absolutely critical that we practice social distancing and make more use of our collaborative digital platforms to get work done,” he advised.

“Please stay safe by maintaining proper hygiene and following all the guidelines stipulated by the relevant authorities.”

Nigeria has so far confirmed 40 cases of the coronavirus with the latest being Abba Kyari, the chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Two patients have been discharged while one died.
