In a bid to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus, the State of Osun House of Assembly has suspended all parliamentary activities for 16 days.
In a press conference addressed yesterday by the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon. Kunle Akande, he disclosed this to journalists at the assembly complex in Osogbo.
He said the state Assembly, having realised that it would be difficult to maintain the recommended World Health Organization (WHO) social distancing standard at a populated work environment as the Assembly, decided to put sessions and public hearings on hold for 16 days.
He added that the House took the decision to ensure compliance with the directive of the state and federal governments on avoidance of large and public gathering.
The 7th Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, in an appeal to the citizenry to maintain established precautionary measure against the spread of the deadly coronavirus, charged them on the usage of hand sanitizer, frequent handwashing and social distancing.
