Court remands land speculator for fraud in Osogbo

A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State capital, on Wednesday, ordered the remand of a land speculator, Abidoye Adegoke for alleged fraud.

According to the prosecutor, Akintunde Jacob, the accused person received the sum of N900,000 from one Adegoke Adam with a promise to sell three plots of land located at Okinni to him, which was later confirmed to be false.

He added that the offence was committed around 2016, adding that the offence committed was punishable under 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34. Vol. II Law of Osun state of Nigeria, 2002.

The accused person, however, pleaded not guilty to the two count-charge of pretence and stealing preferred against him.

The defence counsel, Okobe Nagite prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.

In her ruling, Magistrate Olubunmi Ajanaku ordered the remand of the defendant in Ilesha correctional centre, as she adjourned the case till Match 11, 2020 for ruling on bail.
