Olaoye remains Osogbo South LCDA Chairman – Osun Assembly

By Joseph Akanbi

The State of Osun House of Assembly has reaffirmed its position on the controversy surrounding the status of the impeached LCDA Chairman of Osogbo South, insisting that Abdulhakeem Olaoye remains the Chairman.

This was part of the remarks of the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon. Kunle Akande, during a press conference, yesterday at the House of Assembly complex.

The lawmakers who are on recess till February 4, 2020, held an emergency meeting yesterday to douse the tension raised by the purported impeachment.

The Assembly which had invited the warring factions in the LCDA to the meeting was shunned by the parliamentarians but had in attendance the embattled Chairman.

In his words, the Assembly spokesman said “We had called this meeting to resolve the crisis in Osogbo South LCDA but unfortunately the parliamentarians were not present.”

“We are writing to them officially to be present next week where we’ll discuss the content of the impeachment notice they sent to us. The Speaker and other members of this noble Assembly are unbiased and will ultimately look at the merit of the case.”

“The House is also reaffirming its earlier position that Status Quo Ante be maintained on the issue until all investigation is concluded.” he said.

The lawmaker representing Olorunda State Constituency later cautioned social media users and the press against writing unsubstantiated reports on the issue of Osogbo South LCDA, saying it could lead to breakdown of law and order.
