The proposed appropriation bill of Osun State for the year 2020 which was presented by the Governor of the State, Mr Gboyega Oyetola last week has yesterday passed second reading.
The 7th Assembly under the leadership of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye agreed on reading the budget for the second time after the motion was supported by majority members of the House.
While enlisting the policy advantage of the budget, the Speaker of the House maintained that the budget is cost effective as it covers both long term & short term goals of the state in a relatively less amount when compared to the 2019 fiscal policy.
Hon. Owoeye further promised accelerated passage of the bill which will eradicate poverty in the state as there has been plans put in place for the payment of the modulated salary of the civil servants in the state.
The Speaker also posited that the budget will improve the state’s economy, thereby making foreign investors partner with Osun State.
He however commended the effort of the Governor for the wide consultation he made towards coming up with a budget that will enhance sustainable development goals and tackle the issues confronting the state.
The house later adjourned to Friday, 22nd of November, 2019.
