15% of taxable adults pay tax in Osun – IRS Boss

Chairman of Osun State Internal Revenue Service, Prince Adegbite Ademikanra has reemphasized the need for citizen of the state to pay tax saying data shows only 15percent of the citizenry pay tax.

The IRS Boss made the statement today while featuring on a Rave FM programme, “Ile Igbimo Ajoro”, monitored by osun.life.

He explained that the payment of tax by the citizens will no doubt bring development to the state at large.

He stressed that the agency keeps proper record of taxpayers in the state which shows only 15℅ of the people pay their tax thereby hindering provision some services for the people.

When enlisting those exempted from tax, Prince Ademikanra reiterated that retired civil servants, students, housewives, NGO as well religious houses are exempted from paying but anyone else who has clocked the statutory age of 18 years and has income yielding business, is expected to pay tax as it remains their civic right and shouldn’t be bargained.
