Ogunbiyi charges Journalists on fair reportage

An astute politician and the Chairman of Mutual Benefit Assurance Plc, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi has advised journalists to be fair and balanced in their reporting of issues, as this will go a long a way in enlightening the masses.


Ogunbiyi gave this advise while delivering his lecture at the flag off ceremony at the annual press week celebration of Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) Osun Chapter on the theme “bridging the gap between the rich and the poor .”

He maintained that if reporting of issues is balanced, the masses would be able to know who to elect into leadership positions.


Dr. Ogunbiyi hinted that the urge for instant gratification on the part of the electorates during elections is one of the contributory factors to the wide gap between the wealthy ones and the poor in the society, as people no longer vote based on capacity.


He further emphasized that proper educational background also plays an important role an important role in the bridging of the wide gap between the rich and the poor in the society. He however admonished all and sundry to seek knowledge irrespective of the obstacle.


In his own remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Senator Shehu Sanni congratulated the organizers of the event and also posited that in bridging the gap, everyone is a stakeholder.
