The Speaker of the State of Osun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, has promised a speedy passage of the disability bill in Osun State.
Owoeye made this known while addressing the Executives of the Joint National Association of Persons with disabilities who were on a courtesy visit to his office.
Speaking, the group under the leadership of its President, Kehinde Onitiju, implored the Speaker to look into the disability bill which he said will give them inclusiveness in all ramification of government’s policies.
“As at 2012, we have 57,000 members in Osun, we mobilized heavily during the last election to vote, we need the passage of this bill which guarantees inclusiveness to enjoy the dividends of democracy” he said.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the House thanked the group for the visit and promised his solidarity in all the group’s effort. Owoeye who lauded the immediate past administration of Governor Aregbesola said he elevated the welfare of persons living with disabilities during his regime.
On the passage of the disabilities bill, Owoeye promised to work with the Executive under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola to ensure a speedy passage of the bill.
The speaker later promised to create a day where people living with disabilities will be hosted and celebrated by all state legislators across the state.
