Oyetola lays foundation of new Asubiaro Specialist Hospital

The Governor of Osun State, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, yesterday performed the turning of the sod of the Asubiaro State specialist hospital amidst funfair by hospital management, staff, community leaders and market women.

The turning of the sod which was held on Tuesday at the premises of the hospital if completed would increase the existing 60 beds capacity ward of the hospital to 180 while 30-bed medical doctors quarters would be constructed to solve accommodation challenges of the doctors.

In his address, the Governor Osun State Governor said, “Our revitalization programme is holistic. It comes with the use of technology boost health delivery, provision of modern equipment, training and retraining of staff for efficient healthcare.”

“In order to give prompt vent to this resolve, we executed the flag off of the facilities in Ejigbo and Ifetedo Senatorial Districts barely three months into our administration.”

“This hospital is the flagship of the facilities under the Hospitals Management Board. It is a multi-specialist hospital which offers specialized services in major which include general surgery, dentistry, optical services among others.”

“The specialist hospital is accredited for the training of interns in medicine, pharmacy, physiotherapy, medical laboratory science, and dental therapy. “

“With a capacity for 60 beds for inpatient care, the hospital has an average monthly attendance of 6,500 outpatients, average monthly live births at 142 and average monthly surgery at 60 cases.”

“By the time the 120-bed facility whose sod we are turning today is handed over, we should have upgraded the hospital to a 180-bed facility and expanded its overall efficiency. We are confident that the contractors will live up to their pledge to deliver the project at a record time.”

“Funds for these projects were substantially sourced from the Federal Government facilitated World Bank’s Save One million Lives initiative in which Osun State got 20.547 million dollars, having been adjudged number two in the contest”.

Oyetola express appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for giving the state the privilege to participate in the competition.

Lastly, Gov Oyetola appealed to the hospital staff to deliver services professionally and efficiently. He also urged people to take their health seriously by patronizing the hospital.
