Against doubts by residents of the state most especially the organised labour unions on the diversion of funds allocated to the Osun Health Insurance Scheme, the Executive Secretary of Osun Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Niyi Oginni, has allayed the fears of the people of the state by assuring all stakeholders that the fund of the scheme would not be diverted for any other purposes except for the sole aim the money is meant for as required by enabling laws guiding the operation of the scheme.
Dr. Oginni gave the assurance while featuring recently on “The Spring“, an interview programme by osun.life in Osogbo, the state capital.
Oginni cleared the air on the usage of the funds of the scheme, the medical practitioner said, “the law makes it very clear that the fund that comes to the State Health Insurance Agency for the scheme is not to be used for any purpose and not to be taken for any purposes”.
The Osun Health Insurance Agency boss added that the credibility of the scheme begins with his own personality and he believes that he was appointed by the government because of his track records. He said he has engaged the labour unions in the state, the religious leaders and the informal sectors who have already keyed into the scheme.
Dr. Oginni said that the basic health provision fund which was signed into law under section 11 of the 2014 Health Act, and other 21 states of the federation had already had their state health insurance agency.
Meanwhile, in his commitment to improving health care services in the state, Osun State Governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, earlier this month approved the sum of N150 million as take-off for the state’s health insurance scheme.
