Man in court for stealing lawyer’s motorcycle

Thirty-four-year old Tajudeen Kazeem was, on Monday, arraigned before an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo for stealing two motorcycles.

One of the motorcycles, a Jincheng with number plate QC 111 EJG and valued at N55,000, was said to belong to a lawyer, Mustapha Abdulfatai.

The accused was alleged to have stolen the motorcycle from the lawyer’s house at No. 13 Orisumbare Street, Oke-Bale area, Osogbo on April 7, 2019, around 11pm.

Kazeem was also accused of stealing an Hauojue Suzuki motorcycle with number plate QH 639 SBG and valued at N65,000, the property of one Salawu Kamorudeen.

He allegedly changed the number plate of the motorcycle to QC 111 EJG.

Also arraigned alongside Kazeem was Adamoh Raji, who allegedly received and bought the stolen Hauojue Suzuki from him.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the five counts preferred against them.

The police prosecutor, ASP Abiodun Fagboyinbo, said the offenses were contrary to the provisions of sections 508, 427 and 390 (4) (c) and punishable under Section 509 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol II, Law of Osun State, 2003.

The magistrate, Rofiat Olayemi, granted them bail in the sum of N30,000 with one surety each in like sum.

She subsequently adjourned the matter till August 22 for hearing.
