A fire outbreak in the early hours on Monday has razed six shops in Dada Estate Area of Osogbo, the state capital.
The fire incident which reportedly occurred around 1 am as a result of high voltage supplied by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) razed all the goods in those shops before the arrival of firefighters.
According to one of the shop owners who spoke with osun.life correspondent under anonymity, he said the fire outbreak might have occurred as a result of the high electricity supply by IBDEC. He was convinced that it must have been the high voltage because none of the affected shop owners uses electric, gas or other items that could easily trigger a fire.

While reacting to the incidence, he lamented that he just got goods worth hundreds of thousand naira the day before and that the fire outbreak has burnt everything in the six shops to ashes.
“I just bought the goods yesterday. I sell clothes and I run my business on loans but I don’t know where to go now unless the government comes to our rescue by helping us.”
Another victim, Mr. Damilola Zion who runs a pet shop said that he was informed very early this morning but before getting to the shop, goods worth three hundred thousand naira has been razed to ashes.
“I was informed this morning but when I arrived at the scene, my shop has been razed totally and everything in the shop worth three hundred thousand. I sell pet veterinary materials and I have lost everything to the fire outbreak “
However, our correspondent gathered that a team led by the Chairman of Egbedore Local Government Chairman, Hon. Akeem Adekola Ajao and Council Manager, Mr Kola Badru visited the scene of the incident to ascertain the level of damage and promised to assist the victims through the help of the state government.
