The Universal Basic Education Board, national headquarters, Abuja, has ranked Osun as one of the highest performing among the 36 states of the federation on the chart of UBEC Matching Grant Disbursement Performance as of April 30, 2019.
This was contained in a performance appraisal chart of the states released by UBEC and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Monday listed Osun as one of the first in the federation having accessed 88 percent of its fund.
Osun was listed alongside other top-performing states among which are Borno, Adamawa, Gombe State, Delta, Kebbi, Lagos, Oyo State, Rivers, Sokoto State, Taraba, Cross Rivers and FCT with 88 percent of the fund utilized and remaining only N1.47billion yet to be accessed.
While responding to the performance assessment of the state, the Permanent Secretary, State of Osun Universal Education Board, Alhaji Fatai Adesina Kolawole, attributed the sterling performance of Osun to the deep commitment of the leadership of the state to provide quality education to all and sundry.
The SUBEB boss commended the efforts of former Governor of the State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and his successor, Governor Gboyega Oyetola for their resolve to continually ensure that Osun schools are well equipped with state of the art infrastructure that are world class.
The UBEC performance appraisal chart was a review of state by state assessment from 2005 – 2018.
