Barely three weeks after a gang of cultists, under a pseudonymous “Cultists of Aloha clan” had threatened to invade OAU campus on Saturday, June 1st, “to rain bullets of death, sorrow and grief on innocent students”, the Osun State Police Command have apprehended four cult leaders yesterday, Saturday, June 1st in Ile-Ife.
The University campus which looked so scanty in the early hours of Saturday, June 1st, as most of the students had flee to their various homes and the remaining ones on campus were living in fear.
The issue which had been trending online especially on the twitter platform with the hashtag “#WinterInOAU”, putting parents and guardians of the students in fears.
As a result of this threat release, the University management had invited various security agencies to the campus for adequate and proper security of the staff and students and other people working on the University campus.
Owing to the apprehension of the cult leaders on Friday by the Anti-Cultism Squad of the Osun State Police Command, which they’ve been allegedly identified to be students of the neighbouring University, Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, the tension that ravaged the campus has subsidized.
In an interview with a senior police officer, he said that “security networking was utilised by men employed by the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Ige and they have arrested four leaders of Vikings Confraternity”.
