The All Farmers Association of Nigeria has called on the Osun State Government to provide adequate support for farmers in order to increase their capacity and boost food production .
The association said young farmers and newcomers into agriculture sector needed government’s support to keep them in business.
The Chairman of AFAN in the state, Kayode Afolabi, in a statement on Saturday, said government should dot everything to encourage farmers so that they would not lose interest in agricultural business.
He made the plea at the opening of Agric Training School and Exhibition of farm produce held at Osun Agric School, Osogbo.
Afolabi said the association had been training farmers to boost their capacity as well as rendering support services.
The statement read, “Majority of the youths, who returned to farming recently, are lamenting the hardship they are facing in the sector. Many are complaining of the old system of farming and the lack of funds for their operations.”
