Adeleke: Appeal Court to deliver judgment in certificate forgery case tomorrow

By Jamiu Ganiyu

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja will tomorrow deliver in the eligibility case of the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke in the last year September governorship election in Osun State

This notice of the judgment was made known by the spokesperson of the court, Sa’adatu Kachalla in a statement on Wednesday.

“Notice is hereby given that judgment will be delivered tomorrow 30th May 2019 in Senator Adeleke’s Appeal over qualification Petition at the Abuja Division, Court of Appeal,” Kachalla said in the short statement.

You will recall that in April, a High Court sitting in Abuja had nullified the candidature of Ademola Adeleke.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) had confirmed that Adeleke sat for its examination in 1981, Othman Musa, the judge handling the matter, had held that the result Adeleke attached to his form CF001 which he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was fake.

The judge said while the court’s findings showed that Adeleke entered secondary school in 1976, there was no record to show that he actually graduated as his name was no longer seen in the school’s register from 1980.

In reaction to the verdict, Nathaniel Oke, counsel to Adeleke, said it was unfair that the judge ignored the evidence tendered by WAEC.

Thereafter, Adeleke appealed the verdict of the lower court.

The appellate court has since May 15, reserved judgment on the matter.
