The Executive Secretary for Osun State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS (O-SACA) Dr. Monsur Bello has called on Civil societies in the State to work together to protect people living with HIV/AIDS against stigmatization.
The Osun SACA boss made the call during an Advocacy visit on popularization, domestication, and implementation of HIV anti-stigma and discrimination ACT by the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA).
He called on other concerned government agencies and civil societies to work together to save HIV/AIDS patients from stigmatization.
In his speech, Dr. Bello stated that his agency is currently working on domesticating National law on Anti-Discrimination Act, 2014, to people living with HIV/AIDS in the State.
In his own welcome address, the project manager for Osun State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS, Dr. Akin Oyebade, appreciated the national Agency for the Control of Aids, for coming to collaborate with Osun State.
He called for more awareness on HIV AND AIDS Anti-Discrimination Act, 2014, to eliminate stigma and people living with HIV/AIDS in our society.
Mrs. Obehi Olasupo who represented the Legal Department of NACA commended O-SACA for the warm reception and huge turnouts of civil societies and other participants.
Obehi explained reasons behind enacting a law against discrimination of people living with HIV/AIDS and called for the implementation of the Act, also she lauded O-SACA for the proactive step taken to domesticate the Law in Osun State.
The Copies of Act were, however, presented to the Executive Secretary of O-SACA, Dr. Monsur Bello, on the behalf National Agency for the Control of Aids.
