BREAKING: Osun Govt reverses increase in Okada Riders Levy

The Osun State Government has reversed the increment of daily levy charge for Okada riders in the state amidst serious resistance by members of the union.

The reversal of was made known through a public service announcement by Osun Internal Revenue Service today, a copy which was made available to osun.life.

The press release reads; “consequent upon the resistance of some members of commercial Okada riders’ association in the state on a daily ticket consolidation of N100 fee payable to the association and N100 payable to the State Government as road tax agreed upon by the Commercial Okada Riders’ association and the State Government, the Governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, in his magnanimity has once again exhibited a portrait of virtue to continuously create a bridge of peace and tranquility among the citizenry by ordering suspension of the exercise till further notice in order to entertain all concerns. All commercial Okada riders in the State are therefore enjoined to continue with their daily activities devoid of rancor”.

You would recall that the popular Ola-Iya junction in Osogbo, the state capital, was thrown into pandemonium yesterday when some Okada Riders resisted the new increment by the team of Osun internal revenue service.

Some of them who spoke with osun.life yesterday condemned the new policy describing it as inconsiderate in the face of harsh economic conditions.
