The Association of Community Pharmacist of Nigeria, Osun State chapter, has appealed to the Federal Government over the need for a speedy passage of the missing Pharmacy Bill.

This was part of the statement issued during a press conference the association held at the NUJ conference room to address the missing Pharmacy Council of Nigeria Bill 2017.

The Pharmacy bill which was scheduled for the president’s assent was suddenly discovered missing between the national assembly and the presidency.

Pharmacist Felix Adedoyin, the State Chairman of the association who presided over the conference identified reasons why the bill must be approved.

Adedoyin said the bill which meets world standard will ensure Nigerians have access to safe, efficacious and affordable medicines. The bill upholds prohibition of sales of drugs in authorised places and open drug markets has also removed ambiguities with regards to no offences and relevant commensurate sanctions applicable to all players.

The ACPN however appealed to the FG to heed to this clarion call to engender a new agenda of productivity, professionalism, self-sufficiency in local production and regulatory excellence in the Pharma-sector in good stead to contribute to National Gross Domestic Products (GDP).
