Trophy Lager launches 5-a-side tournament

Football enthusiasts in Nigeria are set to jostle for a sum of three million naira after Trophy Lager launched their maiden 5-a-side tournament for their consumers.

Trophy Lager, a leading beer brand revealed the theme for the tournament ‘Trophy 5-a-side Field of Honour’ with plans for the 10-week football tournament that will cover four states namely Lagos, Ogun, Osun and Oyo states.

While various teams battle for glory through the knockout stages, super fans of Trophy Lager beer will be selected nationwide via weekly questions and sweepstakes for the semi-finals and final showdown which will take place in Lagos.

In addition to the numerous consolation gifts and memorabilia for participating teams and the N3 million cash prize for the final winner on May 12, the victorious team will automatically qualify for an all-expense paid trip to the ‘Africa 5 tournament’ regional finals in Tanzania where they stand the chance to meet four-time African Footballer of the Year and former Barcelona star Samuel Eto’o.

Ex-Nigeria captain Joseph Yobo was unveiled as the campaign ambassador alongside music artiste Falz the Bahd Guy and Nollywood actor Femi Adebayo.

Meanwhile, Annabelle Degroot, BU President – West Africa, International Breweries, reiterated the company’s mission in giving their customers all round value while they enjoy the product.

Tolu Adedeji, Marketing Director, International Breweries, also stressed that the tourney is focused on celebrating their customers and their communities with a chance of meeting four-time African Player of the Year and former Barcelona star Eto’o.

“It is designed to create an opportunity for our customers to celebrate and represent their communities and designed to tap into the passion many Nigerians have for soccer as they enjoy the beer they love.”

“Aside from taking home the winning prize of N3 million, the winning team will be meeting Samuel Eto’o, the renowned African football superstar, and also have bragging rights as the best 5-a-side football team and an opportunity to participate in the continental finals taking place in Tanzania later this year.”
