For stealing phones worth N362, 000, two men, Ogboye Seun and Sunday Iyiola, were, yesterday, convicted and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment each, by a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Fagboyibo Abiodun, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on the 29th day of July 2017 at about 3am at Oke Arungbo community, Osogbo.
He said the accused did break and enter into the dwelling house of one Ajani Charles Oluyemi and stole one Alcatel mobile phone valued at N90, 000, one Del laptop phone, valued at N200, 000 and a wallet containing sum of N72, 000, all total valued at N362, 000.
Fagboyibo, said the offence committed is contrary to and punishable under section 516, 411(2), 309(9) and 427 of the criminal code cap 34 Vol ll Laws of Osun State Nigeria 2003.
He further informed the court that the second accused person did receive the stolen Alcatel mobile phone valued at N90, 000 from one Ogboye Seun, the first accused person, knowing fully well that it was a stolen from one Ajani Charles Oluyemi.
The duo, after agreeing to be tried in the court, pleaded guilty to the four count – charge levelled against them by the prosecutor.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Najite Okobe, prayed the court to temper justice with mercy.
The Magistrate, Mr O Oloyede, having convicted the accused persons, sentenced them to six months’ imprisonment each to serve as deterrent to others.
