Coalition: We were not privy to the agreement with APC – SDP

By Femi Adesola

The Vice Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Osun state, Architect Goke Omigbodun has revealed that he and some leaders of the party were not privy to the details of the coalition agreement with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The SDP Chieftain made this known while featuring on a Yoruba current affairs programme (Agba Oselu), on Rave 91.7Fm, Oshogbo on Monday.
Recall that the Social Democratic Party in Osun state formed an alliance with the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the build-up to the September 27th Osun Governorship supplementary elections which the APC won.
Consequently, there had been some unverified reports that the leadership of the party had directed all intending candidates via text messages not to contest the upcoming 2019 general election.
Omigbodun while reacting to the questions about the said directive by the party leaders noted that he was not privy to some agreement made with the  APC, saying he only knew about the workers welfare, patronage of home based people for appointment and contract and reversal of same school uniform policy.
In his words he said “When they were negotiating during the coalition, I was not involved in it, but I spearheaded the one with the smaller parties, but when we wanted to have coalition with the APC, the directive came from our leader, Senator Omisore and others were at the center of the agreement” Omigbodun disclosed.
