The crisis rocking the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is over, following the successful reconciliation of the Adeleke and Ogunbiyi group by the National Leader of the party and President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki.
This was contained in a tweet by the National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Mr Kola Ologbodiyan from his twitter handle (@officialkolaO).
The tweet reads “Happening now @Bukolasaraki campaign council just reconciled senator Ademola Adeleke and Dr Akin Ogunbiyi…..PDP is united for Osun”
Recall that Senator Ademola Adeleke won the July 21st PDP primary election with just 7votes over Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, Ogunbiyi who later petitioned the National Headquarters of the party, complained of irregularities in the electoral process that produced Adeleke.
Efforts by the NWC of the party to reconcile the groups immediately after the primary met a brick wall, the leadership had ceded the Deputy Governorship slot, Senatorial ticket, among others to the Ogunbiyi group, a pact that was not honoured. The failure of the Adeleke group to honour this pact further compounded the issues between the two groups.
Both camp began this week with accusation and counter accusation over alleged plan by the Ogunbiyi group to dump the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The ability of the two groups to finally unite and work together has no doubt boosted the chances of the party in reclaiming power from the All Progressives Congress in Osun State. The reconciliatory committee headed by Senator Bukola Saraki, also had other members including Senator David Mark, Senator Biodun Olujimi, Hon. Soji Adagunodo.
