The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader’s cameo with newsmen, shortly after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, has sent voters in Osun State frenzied as many of them took excess to his statement that the All Progressives Congress, was expecting victory from the September 22 governorship poll in the state.
Angered by the manner at which the APC government has run the state for over seven years, the electorate wasted no time in reducing, Senator Bola Tinubu, to a ranting coward, who has only the mouth as his weapon.
It would be recalled that the Rauf Aregbesola’s administration has come under sheer critism over how it failed to address critical areas of citizens’ welfare. Civil Servants have demonstrated on a number of occasion to protest the continued payment of modulated salaries, non-remittance of pension deductions, non-payment of pensioners’ gratuities among others.
Similarly, artisans, traders and other dependents, who were rather indifferent to the governing style of Aregbesola and would only spite the Civil Servants for being over selfish in the past, are now seen to be vomiting venom at every gaze of Aregbesola and his cronies.
All these put together, has made voters in the state resorted to doing a rethink on who better deserved their votes, is it the party which prioritizes infrastructure or the one that fancies filling the city with cash?
It is against this backdrop, that Tinubu’s opinion on the forthcoming election in the state, which was in all sincerity, expected of an elder statesman, who must say the positive even if his party was sure to implode in the winter. This, they call political strategy that would help tie down their supporters and also put oppositions on their toes.
Reacting to a post on osun.life’s Facebook Page, users, who are not only residents but also voters in Osun State, established displeasure over the piece of sentences mustered by the APC chieftain.
One Makanju-ola, said he was for APC but a victory for his party in the forthcoming election was not expected as against Tinubu’s insinuation.
Akindoye Ilufoye stated that, “APC had betrayed our trust, he (Tinubu) should continue his dreaming in the afternoon until the judgment day.”
Also, Wilson Olatunji, added that, “If the constituted authority would allow a free and fair election in the state, Ogbeni has not done anything to warrant re-electing another APC candidate.”
Another user however alleged the APC of being in possession of the power to rig alone.
Harkenetolar Harkeneyemi said, “The only thing you have is the power to rig. “
However, Adebayor Mustapha, broke from the norm when he contributed by saying that he did not care about who emerged victorious in the election but was concerned about the electorate votes counting.
