The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has commenced training of Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs) on Polling and Counting Procedures for the Osun governorship election scheduled for September 22, 2018.
The Commission disclosed this in a statement issued by its Director of Publicity and Voter Education, Oluwole on Friday in Abuja.
He said that the two-day training which started on Thursday at Ataoja School of Science Oshogbo was organised by the Electoral Institute (TEI), Abuja.
While quoting the acting  Director-General of the Institute, Dr Saad Umaras, he stated the exercise was aimed at developing the skills of the officers to effectively cascade the training to Presiding and Assistant Presiding Officers who would be involved in the election.
Similarly speaking, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Mr Olusegun Agbaje, urged participants to remain focused, fair and nonpartisan in the discharge of their duties.
Agbaje also advised the officers to participate actively, adding that only the best would eventually be selected as trainers for the upcoming training of Presiding Officers (POs) and Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs).
