Micheal Adeola, a resident of Osogbo, has been dragged before Magistrate A.O. Ajanaku of Osun State High Court, Osogbo, for allegedly stealing the sum of 350, 000 naira belonging to one Mrs. Mary Akilapa.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Jafaani Musilim, “the accused person, in the month of April 2018 at Ajegunle area of Osogbo did steal the sum of Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira only, which is a property of one Mary Akilapa.”
It was also contained in the charge cheet, marked MOS/465C2018, that the offence committed was punishable under section 390 sub-section 9 and contrary to section 383 of Criminal Code CAP 34 vol. iii laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.
But the counsel to the respondent, Barr Najite Okobie, who rebuffed cross examination of the prosecution witness brought before the court by the applicant, said the offence was a bailable one and would want to pray to the court to grant his client bail.
The Magistrate however granted the accused person, who admitted committing the crime bail in the sum of 200, 000 with two sureties in the like sum.
She said, “the accused person is to provide 200,000 naira; two sureties, who are either state or federal civil servants in the like sum and must reside within the magisterial district; two passport size photographs and valid means of identification.
