Alhaji Moshood Adeoti has today, resigned his appointment as the Secretary to the Osun State Government, decamped to the Action Democratic Party (ADP), and emerged the governorship candidate of party for the Osun governorship election slated for September 22 2018.
Adeoti, who until this morning was still the SSG, tendered his resignation letter to the Governor, it is however unclear if the letter has been accepted by the Governor.
Recall that Adeoti, had in an earlier letter addressed to the Ward Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), resigned his membership of the party.
Meanwhile, the ex-SSG was warmly welcomed by party faithfuls of ADP who said his membership is a historic event for the party.
In his acceptance speech after a primary held at the ADP Secretariat on Monday in Osogbo , Adeoti urged the party members to support him in winning the Sept 22 governorship election.
Adeoti said he was committed to executing the ADP ideals as contained in its manifesto. He also said he had acquired experience as a “grassroot politician who had passed through virtually all stages of political leadership as councillor, local government supervisor and party administrator and later Secretary to State Government.’’
Also speaking, Mrs Lynn Olisa, the Secretary of the Electoral Committee, said 13,400 party members were accredited for the primary while 13,367 voted. Olisa said Adeoti, the only aspirant of the party, scored 13,324 votes , adding that 43 votes were voided.
In his remarks, the State Chairman of the party said ”Any political party that does not have a viable candidate is more like an association, and we are a registered political party and fishing for a sellable candidate who will lead the party to victory.”
“By the time we were told that a notable politician in Osun State is coming to join our party, we were overwhelmed.” the Chairman said.
