Top Iwo Socialite, Otunba Adebayo Aremu, is dead

A top Iwo Socialite and High Chief, Otunba Abdulganiyu Adebayo Aremu has passed on.

The High Chief who was recently upgraded to the post of Otunba of Iwo land from Ekerin of Iwo land by HRM Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi is dead.

In a statement signed by the palace of Oluwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi commiserated with the entire people of Iwo land and the Aremu family over the death of its illustrious son.

Chief Aremu, during his lifetime, trained as a lawyer in the United Kingdom at the University of London and has a law firm in Sagamu, Ogun State.

He also spearheaded several efforts to develop the town with his interventions in the Iwo Development Union and several other non-profit efforts. He was the President of Iwo Board of Trustees and also a Chairman of Iwo local government in 1973.

The late business mogul was also believed to be involved in several endeavours to making the Iwo L’okan agenda a reality.
