“OSCAN believes strongly that whoever will emerge as the Governor of Osun State and who will direct the affairs of over 4.5 million people must possess some qualities and credentials necessary for this exalted office.

“In as much as OSCAN has no political inclination but as a major stakeholder in the affairs of this state, the association believes that an electable candidate needs to be persons with the following competencies.

“He or she must be a visionary person with a realistic development plan for Osun State; and one with a pedigree, sound education and someone who has the ability to harness and manage the state resources efficiently and effectively.

“The candidate must emerge from a political platform through an open, free and credible contest or party primary and has as a demonstrative commitment and belief in the rule of law in practice; respect for constitutional due processes and human rights.

“The person must have clear plan for security, infrastructural development, effective public service, economic development and wealth generation that guarantees sustainable prosperity for all and not a few privileged elite”

Other conditions listed by OSCAN is that the said person must see all Osun dwellers as citizens with equal rights and privileges not as feudal lords and conquered subjects and has clear blueprint for the state’s education, health, agriculture, industry sectors.

“He or she must be a listening leader who respects stakeholders’ opinion in the running of the state affairs, be responsive to the Osun Community’s needs, yearnings and aspirations, be accessible, humane and tolerant and be ready to run an open and transparent administration.

“OSCAN notes that these qualities shall well be considered in its choice of who governs the state and therefore urges political parties to pick the best among their aspirants as their flag-bearers”

While urging all Christians to ensure that they perform their civic responsibilities such as Voters’ registrations, voting on the Election Day and ensure that their votes count, OSCAN warned that God’s wrath awaits anyone who engaged in bribery of party leaders, party delegates and religious leaders to secure party tickets.
