The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has begun the screening for the eleven aspirants who purchased nomination and expression of interest forms to contest for the Osun State governorship election on the platform of the party.
The screening will take place at the PDP National Headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Abuja to scrutinize the aspirant.
The PDP Chairman Osun state chapter, Hon Olasoji Adagunodo confirmed in a telephone chat with our correspondent.
Adagunodo explained that the screening exercise commences today Monday, June 25 and ends on Wednesday, June 27.
The large number of aspirants has been trimmed down to eleven because of some aspirant’s inability to meet up with the financial demand of the Guber race, some have also stepped down to team up with other contenders.
However, eleven aspirants had obtained the nomination form as confirmed by the chairman, including the former Director General of FERMA, Engineer Jide Adeniji who obtained his nomination form on the deadline date.
Those who had purchased forms from the Osun West include Senator Akinlabi Olasunkanmi, Engr. Fatai Akinbade, Hon. Adejare Bello, Akogun Lere Oyewumi, Senator Ademola Adeleke and Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi.
Aspirants from the Central Senatorial District include Professor Adeolu Durotoye, Senator Kola Ogunwale (Jumokol) and Engr. Jide Adeniji.
Those from the Osun East Senatorial district include Dr. Ayoade Adewopo and Barrister Nataniel Oke SAN who hails from Akinlalu in Ife North Local Government.
The PDP primaries is scheduled to hold on July 17th while the delegate congress for the remaining three Local Government areas, namely, Ede North, Ede South, and Ifelodun, will hold on Saturday, June 29.
