Ajayi, who chairs the House of Representatives’ Committee on Debt Management, made the declaration on Wednesday at the Osun State office of the party in Osogbo.
He said if given the mandate, he would build on the infrastructural legacies of Governor Rauf Aregbesola and make agriculture the state’s economic mainstay by revolutionising the sector and supporting youth investment in agricultural businesses.
Ajayi said by so doing, the revenue base for the economic and social development of the state would be guaranteed, adding that the road networks already provided by the incumbent administration would encourage investors in the state.
He appealed to the leadership and members of APC to support his ambition to ensure continuity of good governance in the state, saying his experience as a lawmaker and as a good team player offers him advantage over other contenders.
Ajayi rolled out three key electoral promises tagged APC, which he interpreted as Agricultural Development; Public Service Development and Continuity of Aregebsola’s Social Investment Programmes and Infrastructures Enhancements.
He said; “I can assure you that with the level of work the incumbent has done in the state with massive infrastructural development in urban and rural areas, concentrating efforts on agriculture will help boost the economy of the state as well as making the state independent financially without fully relying on federation account. This is won’t be difficult to do since Osun is an agrarian state.
“Under our leadership, the welfare of public servants would be given attention. They are a major component of any government and if we are to achieve anything tangible I believe giving them priority will propel them to give their all in the transformation of the state.
“As for the “C” you will all agree with me that the incumbent has laboured so hard to lay a solid foundation. It’s only an aspirant who has nothing to offer that would want to waste their time coming with his own programmes. We would sustain the legacy built in all aspects of the economy and we will prosecute it in a manner that will bring prosperity to the people if elected.”
Welcoming the aspirant to the party Secretariat, the Chairman of the party in the state, Prince Gboyega Famodun described Ajayi as one of the lawmakers portraying the state in good light.
He noted that Ajayi remains one of the future assets of the party as he would always be found doing things that would bring progress to the party. He assured him of a level playing ground in the forthcoming primary election.
