Man Docked In Osun Over Wife Battery

For allegedly turning his wife to punching bag, a 40-year-old man, Michael Adesina has been dragged before an Osun State Magistrates’ court sitting in Ile-Ife.

 

Besides, Adesina was alleged to lack proper care for his family and maltreat them with impunity. The Prosecutor, Sunday Osanyintuyi, an Inspector of Police told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 11, 2018, around 11:00 am at Akui area of Ile-Ife.

 

Osanyintuyi added that the accused assaulted his wife by giving her fist blow on her neck and always failed to provide necessities of life for the wife and the two children of the marriage.

 

According to him, the offence contravened section 339 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2003. The accused, who was not legally represented, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of lack of care and maltreatment.

 

Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode, counseled the suspect on the need for him to give adequate care to his wife and children. He thereafter granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum amount, as he adjourned the case until June 25, for mention.
