OSUN State Commissioner for Finance, Bola Oyebamiji, has advised aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, to work together in the September 22 governorship election, and shun activities capable of causing crisis in the party.
Addressing Muslim faithful at a lecture organised by political advocacy group, Team Support Group of Bola Oyebamiji, at the Ansarudeen Secondary school playground in Ikire, he said only Allah could install Governor Rauf Aregebsola’s successor in the state.
Oyebamiji said the only way to sustain the legacy of Aregbesola was for APC governorship aspirants to unite and defeat the opposition parties. He said: “I want to use this opportunity to appeal to all the aspirants contesting for the coming gubernatorial election on the platform of the APC to please abide by the rules and guidelines of the party. We should eschew hate speeches and activities capable of truncating the peaceful coexistence among the party members. “Please let us play responsible politics. Let us work together and show ourselves as worthy ambassadors of the party who the masses, especially our supporters, can look up to.
There will be only one victor in the party primary. The game is not one in which the winner takes all. So, if you are not the victor in that exercise, there are abundant possibilities left to compensate everybody,” he said.
The Ikire born politician demanded the aspirants’ cooperation, saying they should support whosoever emerges the party’s candidate at the end of the primary. In his lecture, the Chief Imam Gbigba Adura Mosque, Ogijo Lagos, Muzif Akintaro, charged the Muslim faithful to get involved in the political process and contribute to nation building. Akintaro commended Governor Aregbesola for beautifying Osun. Aregbesola has set a pace which others should build on, he said.
