Police Arraign 33-year-old man over alleged fraud

A 33 year old man, Adewumi Ademurele, has been arraigned before an Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo on Monday 21 May 2018 for allegedly defrauding one Oyedele Adebayo of N290,000.

The accused person was faced with a two count charge to which he pleaded not guilty. It was gathered that the accused person, under false pretense and with intent to defraud obtained N290, 000 from Oyedele Adebayo with a view to supply him planks for construction of his building, a pretense he knew to be false thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 418 and punishable under Section 419 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

The Defense Counsel applied for bail for the accused person, which was granted by the Magistrate M. A Awodele in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in the like sum. She stated that one of the sureties must be a civil servant residing within the court’s jurisdiction.

She further stated that the sureties must provide an affidavit of means and provide three clear passport photographs. The accused person must also provide three clear passport photographs, the address of the sureties must be verified by the Police and the status of the civil servant must be verified in his/her office by his superior.
