Democracy Day: Olasunkanmi congratulates Nigerians, wishes Osun peaceful transition

A Former Senator and former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has charged Nigerians and especially the people of Osun to work hard to promote democracy and good governance by electing the right people as their leaders.

In his democracy day statement made available to osun.life, Senator Olasunkanmi also wished the people of Osun a peaceful transition of power later in the year.

According to him, this year’s celebration has come at a time when Nigeria and Osun state need prayers to decide and choose responsive leadership at all levels in order to enjoy the full dividends of democracy.

The citizens know that the quality of their lives had changed within the period of democratic governance compared to dictatorship but are still desirous of better quality of life.

Senator Olasunkanmi identified increasing youth unemployment and lopsided fight against corruption as some of the country’s major problems causing violence, tension, divisiveness and retrogression which, however, a proper application of the tenets of democratic rule could help to resolve.

He appreciated the people of Osun for their patience and perseverance of the hardships and anti-people policies of the Aregbesola’s seven and a half rule and wishes them a peaceful transition to another government in November.

He congratulated Nigerians for the celebration of another democracy day and wished the people of Osun God’s wisdom to select a right candidate that will resore the fortunes of the state and bring back happiness on the faces of the people.

It is crystal clear that only a PDP government could bring about this redemption and restoration, he said.
