
The accused was docked on two count charges bothering on fraud.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Jafani Muslim informed the court that the accused committed the offence in April 2017 at No. 20B, Oke Baale area of Osogbo, Osun State capital.
According to him, the defendant fraudulently a sum of N500,000 from one Omoniyi Simeon Olasunkanmi under the pretence of assisting him to secure a non-existent uncompleted building, adding that he allegedly forged a document to purchase the said property.
Jafani further explained that the offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 419, Section 390 (9) and Section 467 of Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume 11, Laws of Osun State, 2003.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the three count charges levelled against him, just as his defence counsel, Barrister Okobe Najite pleaded with the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal and affordable terms.
Presiding Magistrate Opeyemi Taofeek Badmus granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in the like sum, stressing that the sureties must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and swear to an affidavit of means, coupled with evidence of tax payments for three years, including three passports photographs.
The case was adjourned to June 8 for hearing.
