The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Diran Odeyemi has disclosed that his party will not field any candidate with corruption cases for the 2019 general elections.
Odeyemi while speaking on radio program on Raypower 95.1FM, monitored by our correspondent, said even the law of the land will not allow anyone found wanting of corruption, he further explained the security agents (DSS) will need to screen and do a background check on any presidential aspirant, before the party apparatus give the candidate a nod to fly the ticket of the party.
When asked about the corruption tag on PDP’s 16 years in power as a corrupt party and been the major cause of the economic problem the country is facing at the moment. He said most of the people in APC now are from the PDP, he further said anyone that’s culpable of corruption within the PDP fold must be punished and jailed according to the law of the land.
He further berated the APC government on their failed promises on security, economy and massive unemployment, He admonished the APC to stop the blame game and focus on giving back the dividend of democracy to the people and fulfil their bogus promises rather than blaming the PDP for their ineptitudes.
Lastly, on the issue of leadership crisis back home in Osun, He said it is bound to happen in politics, where some will win and some part will lose, He said rancour and disagreement are normal in political organizations. When asked about the possibility of reconciliations in the party. He said plans are underway to reconcile aggrieved members.
